Payoff

From WilmottWiki

The payoff is how much the holder of an option receives at expiration. This may be a very simple formula such as \max(S-K,0) for a call option where S is the stock price at expiration and K is the strike.

For more complicated contracts the payoff is determined by a legal document called a term sheet.
